I like that idea.

Some of my dear friends have decided to wear ONE DRESS for an entire month to promote awareness of human trafficking and encourage people to donate to The Daughter Project

Here's the scoop on The Daughter Project:

// OUR PURPOSE
To help girls recover from the trauma of human sex trafficking and to help prevent them from being trafficked through community education. The foundation of this help will be Godly, biblical and holistic.
// OUR CORE BELIEFS
God is the creator of everything. God is the redeemer of His creation through His son, Jesus Christ. God indwells believers to transform them into His agents of redemption on the earth through His Holy Spirit. The Bible is Jesus Christ in written form. We will strive to operate our organization in a way that reflects His life of perfection and grace, for His glory and for the redemption of the girls we serve in love.
// OUR PROGRAM
To provide holistic healing services in an extremely safe, home-like environment to girls who have been freed from human sex trafficking. The services will include; spiritual mentoring, abuse & addiction counseling, health & nutrition education, medical/dental/vision care, legal counsel, and family/friend restoration. This help will be provided by caring & competent professionals & volunteers. In addition, we will offer education, job and housing assistance.

I like that idea-- the part about raising awareness for The Daughter Project. The other part (the one-dress-for-an-entire-month part) scares me.

Oh, hello, FEAR. My familiar friend, fear, calls the shots in my life far too often.

I can't imagine how scared the women who are suffering through human sex trafficking right now, this very second, feel. The fear they experience is something unimaginable to me...how my unknowing heart aches for them.

Amy Seiffert (check her out)
http://www.amyseiffert.com/?p=1420
...is doing this mission for 6 months...(yes...ONE DRESS for 6 months). One brave lady.
The same dress...every single day.
What?? In our society, especially for women, this is unheard of. I remember in high school trying so hard not to wear the same lame-0 shirt twice in a row over (at least) 2-3 weeks....one dress..for one month? When Amy first started this mission, I was so inspired to follow her lead and do it with her...

And then the excuses came flooding in.
I don't have a dress that I could wear over and over again like that.
I'm not good with clothes
or fashion,
or style..
or creativity with outfits.
I'll just feel ugly after the 3rd day.
And so on...

When my sweet friend Christie Mook asked me if I would join her and the women in the pink house for one month...I gave her one of those..."yes, no, maybe so", kind of answers. So not only fear, but maybe even some commitment issues... maybe? yep. I think so.

"I've made it a commitment to consistently put myself in situations that scare me and require God to come through."
 -Francis Chan, from his book Crazy Love.

I'm going to do it.

Here's my prayer...

God I am counting on you to use this to spread your kingdom...your relentless love. I praying that we raise awareness for these sweet women. These sweet women that deserve to understand how precious they are, and have seen nothing but deceit, misuse, and darkness. Lord help all of us be a light for you in this fight, counting on nothing else but who we are as your daughters to feel beautiful. I pray that this not be about us or about an article of clothing, but about your sweet daughters who have suffered through human sex trafficking. Lord I am scared and I am unsure of myself, but I am counting on You to come through. In Your Son's name. Amen.
...

Whether it be through donation, joining in on the fight, or simply through prayer-- I ask you to consider joining us.

Here it is, ready to be over worn. Its a simple little thing for a very big thing.
